4th Of July Trip 2010

For the Fourth Of July this year, we were invited to go up to Roosevelt, where Ryan's dad's side of the family is from. Every year his Indian Tribe does this thing called a 'Pow Wow' for the 4th. His parent's only go up every couple of years for it, & this year happened to be one of them because they were also having a family reunion that weekend, so they invited us to go up there with them. (we left a few days after they did, though)

We got there about 1AM & Brans was wide awake (after sleeping almost the whole way) & ready to play cards with everyone!

The next day at the family reunion, which was a Luau theme.

Brans was a little pooped out from staying up the night before, so he was inside taking a nap for a little bit of the reunion.
{isn't this picture hilarious?!}

We had lots of yummy food & everyone played some horse shoes!
{I didn't even try, in fear I would seriously injure someone! haha}

A little later that day, we headed over to the Pow Wow. It was pretty cool! They had a TON of booth-type things set up with people selling home-made stuff. Some of the stuff they had was pretty dang neat! I got my mom a necklace, since her birthday was on the 4th.

We got to see lots of Indian dancers.

{this one was my favorite... he was dancing so cool}

We stayed for about 3 hours, & got to see the opening part of it, but they ended up doing some other thing (I can't even remember what it was!) that they don't usually do, that lasted a lot longer than we would of liked... so we didn't get to see any of the real dancing competitions, since we really wanted to take Bransyn to the park to see fireworks. But it was still really neat to get to see what I did (:

We headed over to the park & watched the city firework show. Bransyn's eyes were glued!

Funny story about this ring on my finger.
Before we left to go to the Pow Wow, Ryan's mom came up to me with her jewelry box & told me to pick out a ring to wear. I was really confused, but I picked one & asked her what it was for. She said Ryan asked her to lend me one so I could wear it to the Pow Wow, because apparently if a girl doesn't have a ring on her finger, the guys there will hit on them! hahah. I thought it was hilarious (:

The next day, we went back to the Pow Wow to hopefully see some of the dance competitions, but they had some other stuff going on again. Than, it started POURING on us.... so we just left. Even though we didn't get to see any of the REAL dancing, it was still realllly cool see all of the fun outfits they wore & the dancing they did for the opening ceremonies.

That night, we were hanging out at Ryan's grandma's house & did some fireworks there.

We entertained ourselves while we were waiting for everyone to get there... haha.

Bransyn did his very first sparkler!

He loved it!

He also got to do poppers for the first time. They wouldn't pop when he threw them, since he is so short they didn't hit the ground hard enough...

So we had him step on them! (: hahah
Than we figured out that if Ryan held him, he was high enough to get them to pop on the ground.

Sparklers with mommy & grandma!

We got some 'snakes' & they were quite weird! haha

But the rest of the fireworks were pretty sweet!

4 generations!

Ryan's dad & mom, his grandma, Brans, Ry & me!
