It has been exactly one year today since I saw those 2 lines on that 'magic' little stick.
Wednesday March 26, 2008.
The day Ryan and I learned that our lives were forever changed.
The day we found out we were expecting our first child together.
And I remember it like it was just yesterday..
Ryan came over to my house after football practice.. but not before sneaking to the store to buy a pregnancy test first.
He had been telling me I was pregnant for the past couple of days.. but obviously, we couldn't just assume.. we had to make sure.
I was sitting at the kitchen counter talking with my family when he got there.
He pulled me into my room to let me know he had bought it.
I went back into the kitchen and drank all the liquid I could.
Then, very nervously, I went into the bathroom to take the first test.
I was so scared to look at it.
So I didn't.
I put it upside down in the drawer for a while.
I wanted to know sooo bad, but I couldn't bring myself to look at it just yet.
After waiting a few minutes.. I finally got the guts to find out if Ryan was right.
It was a big fat positive.
I stuck the test in my pocket, and went to grab Ryan.
I showed him.
We decided that I should take the second one.. just to make sure.
Sure enough.. that one was positive too!
Seeing TWO positive pregnancy tests in my hand, was the weirdest feeling I had ever felt.
I felt good, but it was weird.
Ryan just said "I told you so.."
And that he was happy.
Even though he didn't admit it..
I know he was just as nervous as I was.
But I also knew that he was gonna make a GREAT daddy!
I had a really strong feeling I was pregnant, But I had been in denial for the past couple of days.. mostly just because I didn't want to be wrong... (:
I kept laughing and thinking that it wasn't real..
but ohhh boy, was it real!
This past year has been the craziest, most emotional, hardest, happiest, most exciting, funnest, scariest, most AMAZING experience of my entire life.
Not a single day goes by, that I wish I would of seen only one line that night.
I thank God everyday for sending us this precious little child.
For choosing US to be his parents.
For making me the proudest mama in the whole wide world.
And for giving me the chance to feel the deepest & strongest kind of love that I have ever felt.
Not only for my son, but also for my wonderful fiance!
I feel so lucky to have the two most amazing boys in my life.
(Oh and also the most handsome.. ;] )
Ryan and Bransyn are the best things that have ever happened to me.
I wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world!

Last OB appointment!
And my last full day pregnant!!!
So crazy that I am finally to this point, but I am oh so relieved! I can not wait to be induced tomorrow {although, I still wish this stubborn little boy would come out on his own!!!}
Little man is doing great. His heart beat was nice & strong, and I'm still measuring where I'm supposed to.
They tried to check me to see what I am dilated to now, but it was SO painful this time, they weren't even able to :( So I guess we will find out tomorrow. Hopefully I have dilated at least a LITTLE bit more, to maybe make the whole labor & delivery process go a bit faster.
I'm super scared for tomorrow, as I don't really know what to expect, but I am SO ready! I can not wait to finally have my baby boy in my arms! (:

I have come to the conclusion. . .
THAT THIS CHILD IS NEVER COMING OUT OF ME!!!
& I am SO sick of being 87 weeks pregnant.
That is all.

Officially....... Over Due
Dear Mr. Bransyn,
Mommy would like you to come out & meet her now.
I know it's nice & cozy in there, but
I'm ready to see your cute little face & not be pregnant anymore.
Love, your very large & irritated mama ♥
So much for thinking I was gonna have this kid early through out pretty much my ENTIRE pregnancy! Jokes on me I guess, huh? (:

39 week 6 day OB appointment = CRY FEST!
I had what should of been my last OB appointment today, but it does not look like that is going to be the case! I went in hoping Dr. Lunt would either A, check me & tell me that I was dialated to like a 5 & completely thinned, so I would be going into labor any second. or B, he was going to be nice enough & induce me that day.
But neither of those happened, because guess what?!
I am STILL only dialated to a 1 & 90 % effaced... how it's been for the past 5 dang weeks!
And hospital rules are you can not be induced unless there is a medical emergency, which apparently I do not have one.
I know that Dr. Lunt feels bad for me & knows how miserable I am. He said that if he could, he would have them start inducing me today. But stupid hospital rules. UGH. I was seriously crying my whole appointment! I think this dang rash on my stomach is enough of a medical reason to get this baby out of me. I am constantly in pain & itching because of it. I seriously must have one comfortable uterus, if it's making this child not want to come out of me!
I have tried pretty much every way of bringing labor on (besides castor oil... yuck!) & not one thing has even given me more than braxton hicks contractions!
Anyways, I guess if this stubborn little boy doesn't decide to come out on his own by next Thursday, I will be getting induced. I think I'm gonna cry every single day until then.

A middle name. . .
We have finally picked out a FULL name for our little man!
Ryan & I have been going through the baby name book for HOURS the past couple days, trying to get this child named (okay, middle named! haha)
I told him that since I picked out the baby's first name, he could pick out the middle name... I just have to like it. He found a bunch that he liked... but I wasn't fond of them! haha.
There was one he came across & really liked the sound of it:
Kyler.
Buttt, I already have a cousin named Kyler, & we don't want to be name stealers (:
So we kept searching. But we just could not find any names that we loved as much as that one & that we could both agree on. We thought that since it is just a middle name, it shouldn't be a huge deal if we use that name. So, baby boy's FULL name will be:
Bransyn Kieler Tabet
We did spell it different for that reason, though. Oh and one more reason... something kind of cool about his name.
Bransyn=7 letters
Kieler=6 letters
Tabet=5 letters
Also, 'K' is the letter right in the middle of B & T.
{B c d e f g h i j K l m n o p q r s T}
8 letters between each of them (:
Kinda cool ;)
It's nice to finally have his FULL name picked out! I'm so excited!
Also, baby shower's tomorrow! Can't wait (:

Checkin' up on Baby B
At my last OB appointment, my uterus was measuring about 4 weeks small so I got scheduled for another ultra sound to check measurements & fluid. My mom took me in today (Ryan's up north hunting) to get that done. He's looking fine now & he has enough fluid in there to keep him safe. But apparently he must of stopped growing for a few weeks, which is really scary, but the tech said that that happens sometimes. But luckily, he is measuring a little more accurate now. I'm 32 weeks & according to the U/S, he's measuring about 30. Which isn't a huge deal, he could just be a smaller baby. But just to make sure the fluid levels aren't going down, I have to go in to the Maternal & Fetal Medicine office every week to get Non-Stress Tests (NST). What they will do there, is do kind of a mini-ultra sound, where they just measure the amount of fluid in there to make sure there's enough, and also put 2 monitors on my belly. 1 is to monitor his heart, & the other is to monitor contractions & movements. Ohhh, this should be great fun ;) haha

Genetic Counseling
At my Maternal & Fetal medicine appointment, we had to schedule an appointment to see a genetic counselor. We had that appointment yesterday. I was thinking this was gonna be like a counselor helping us deal with & prepare for what could be, but it was more like genetic QUESTIONING. All she really did was ask us questions about our family background & if chromosomal abnormalities ran in either of our families. I guess she did ask us a little bit about what we would do if the baby DOES have 'problems' & if we would be able to get through it. But for the most part, it was just family background stuff for the both of us.

Maternal & Fetal Medicine
Today was our first appointment at Maternal & Fetal Medicine with Dr. Gonzalez. I really didn't know what to expect, but all they really needed to do was get a more detailed ultra sound & review the pictures. Although the circumstances of getting the U/S kinda suck, I absolutely love getting to see my sweet little baby! So a tech did the U/S & got the pictures she needed & also got some for us. Baby is still definitely a boy (: When she was done, she took the photo's for Dr. Gonzalez to review. After a while, he came in. I'm not sure if the tech just didn't do a good job, so he couldn't see what he needed to in the pictures, or what... but he ended up doing another U/S & just going off of what he was seeing right there. He found what the other office was talking about on the baby's neck... he said that his neck skin is definitely thicker (Thickened Nuchal Fold), but it's not too terribly thick, like some may be. He also saw the dilated kidneys & darkened bowels. Both of those weren't too bad, either. He said that it's possible that it could be nothing, & maybe they will go back to normal. Luckily, the baby's heart is 100% normal so it made me feel better after hearing that! If by chance he did have a hole or something else wrong with his heart, I would of had to deliver up in Salt Lake, because they have a better NICU team & specialists for that kind of stuff. So that makes me even more happy nothing was wrong with his heart! Obviously, there is no way to tell from just an U/S if Bransyn for sure has a Chromosomal Abnormality. But there are ways. 1, being the alpha-fetoprotein screening, which is a blood test. It measures the levels of AFP (a protein that is normally produced by the fetal liver and is present in the fluid surrounding the fetus and crosses the placenta into the mothers blood. Abnormal levels of AFP may signal one of the following:
open neural tubal defects (such as spina bifida)
down syndrome
other chromosomal abnormalities
defects in the abdominal wall of the fetus
twins
a miscalculated due date
For that, they will just take my blood. I will definitely be doing that one. Sometimes the results aren't accurate, but I guess it's worth a try! The second way, is 100% accurate. It is an amniocentesis. That is where the dr sticks a long needle into the uterus, to collect a sample of amniotic fluid, under ultra sound guidance. The fluid is then sent to a lab for analysis. This procedure has some risks, though. It can cause miscarriage, although risk of that is only 1%. It can cause injury to the baby or mother, infection & preterm labor. I told the doctor that I wasn't sure if I want to get that one done or not yet, but I the second he told me the risk of miscarriage, I had my mind made up. There is no way I can get that done. Yes, the risk is very low... but what if I happened to be that 1%? And what if nothing is wrong with my son, but I get it & I end up losing him over it. I just can't do it. Losing my baby is not worth it to me. The only thing that's gonna suck, is that since I have chosen not to get this, we won't know anything for sure until birth. Even if the AFP results come back clean. Which I was supposed to get that test done today, but I couldn't. I dunno if it's cause I'm just worried about the results will be, or if I'm just so stressed & what not, but I wasn't able to get my blood drawn today. I have to go back to get it drawn. So, hopefully after I do that we can get the results back fast & see what they say!

Some unexpected news.
While I was still in Salt Lake Thursday the 26, I was at my grandpa's house in the middle of getting ready to go shopping for the baby when I got a call from my doctors office. I wasn't expecting any call from them, so I had no idea what it was for. I answered it & the conversation went a little something like this:
{it's not exact, but you'll get the point}
Me: hello?
Lady: Hi, is this Alesha?
Me: Yeah it is.
Lady: This is so&so from Dr. Lunts office, I was calling to give you the results of the ultra sound you had done last Tuesday.
(Oh & might I add... the only 'results' I thought came from an ultra sound, were the sex of the baby)
*me thinking* Uh, I already know it's a boy... why are you supposed to call & tell me something I already know?!
Me: Okay........
Lady: The skin on the back of your baby's neck is thicker than it is supposed to be. This can be an indicator that there might be some kind of Chromosomal Abnormality, such as Trisomy 13, 18 or 21. Also, your baby has dialated kidney's and darkened bowels. All three of those together, would most likely mean, if anything, the baby will have Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome)
The next part is all a blur & I don't remember everything she said. All I could think about was 'there's something wrong with *my* baby?!'
Without realizing that she had just told me what I needed to do, I hung up with her after telling her I didn't have any questions. I started crying & extremely confused, I ran up stairs to tell my mom what I had just been told. I really had no idea what I was talking about, except the part about something being wrong with my son. She asked me what I was supposed to do, & I told her that I had no idea.... I couldn't pay attention to what the lady was telling me. So she called the office back & talked to the lady I had just talked to. We found out that I needed to call & make an appointment to see a specialist, to get some testing done & also get a more detailed ultra sound. This was to get better pictures of the 'problems' & have them looked at by someone that knows more about this kind of issue, than just a normal radiologist. So we called & did that. I have an appointment on July 1 with them. I'm really glad they were able to get me in so quickly!
Although I had my mom with me, I felt so alone. Ryan was back home in St. George & there was no way I wanted to tell him about this over the phone. I had to wait until I got home Thursday night to tell him. And I had no idea how he was going to take this news, or how it would affect him. I know so little about this, so I didn't know how I was supposed to explain it or answer any questions he would have. He kind of reacted just like I did... confused, worried, scared... wondering what was going to happen. He's gonna go to my appointment with me, so hopefully we can get a better understanding of everything together.
Even though it's only been a few days since then, I've done a lot of thinking on this issue. I know one thing for sure... I already love this baby more than anything in this world. He is my son, & no matter what.... I will love him unconditionally. Whether he is 'normal' or has a special quality, I will not love him any different. Abortion was not an option from the start, & having one never even crossed my mind after I got the news. Just because he could be a little different, doesn't mean he shouldn't have a chance at life. I just hope that if by chance he does have something, he won't have any major problems (such as a hole in his heart)
I guess I wait til the first & see what we find out then.

It's a. . . .
BOY!!!
We are SO proud to announce that
Mr. Bransyn Tabet is on his way!!! (:
The proof ;) definitely NOT a girl!
His little skeleton face!
His hand, with a 'thumbs up' (:
This is just a picture I took of the video... he was sucking his thumb & I thought it was ADORBS!
Another picture from the video... his left leg & foot! So cute (:Here's how the appointment went:
Our appointment was at 1:00 pm. Ryan & I drove there & met up with my mom, Amanda & Bryce (they had just gotten done with one of Amanda's baby appointments) We had to wait for a while, so we asked everyone what we thought the baby was gonna be. Ryan, Bryce & Amanda all said a boy... Mom said girl, lol. & I said that I really didn't know! haha. So we finally get back there & all set up & the tech starts. And WOW, my little hampster lookin child turned into a baby in just 9 short weeks! It was so crazy to see all of his features & have him look so big, but really be SO small! I instantly got tears in my eyes.. it is SO amazing getting to see your little baby before they are born. She got all of the measurements & whole anatomy scan, then we stuck our video tape in to record the rest of the ultra sound, of him just moving around. Then she asked me & Ryan if we wanted to know the sex of the baby. We both said YES super quick! haha, we were so anxious. Then she asked us if we could tell what it was. Ryan was like 'Just say it's a boy! Please just say it's a boy!' And the tech replied to that with, 'Ohhh, it's a boy all right!' Then showed us the proof, there was no mistaking this little man for a girl! :) Then the tears just came pouring out of my eyes! Not tears of sadness that we were having a boy, they were the happiest tears I have ever cried! It was so good to finally know who was living inside of me. To be able to call my baby by his name. To know that I was gonna have a son. Ryan just kissed me on the head & hugged me. We were both SO excited! I'll admit that in the very beginning of my pregnancy, I was leaning more towards wanting a girl... but the more I thought about having a boy, the more I wanted one. I really would of been perfectly fine with whatever, but I really am so excited to be having a little boy first. We continued watching our little boy on the ultra sound for a little while longer. It was so crazy to feel him moving inside of me, AND be able to watch him at the same time! Then she finished up, I wiped all the goop off my belly & she gave us the pictures of our handsome little boy! (: Then we were off to share the news with everyone! But first, I had to pee! haha. I had to drink all that water & had to hold it til we were done with the ultra sound. Then I first called my grandma Jeanette to tell her, since she was wanting to come down for the ultra sound, but couldn't make it due to car trouble. So I had promised to call her right after we found out. And of course, she talked foreverrrr! haha. But I always love talking to my grandma. Then since I was wanting to go shopping right after we found out, we went over to Target since we were right by there. We got back to the baby section, & I finally got off the phone with my grandma. Called my grandma Nancy, to let her know. Then sent the 'announcement text' out to everyone, that read: 'It's a boy! Baby Bransyn' Then came the stream of 'Congratulations' & 'I'm so excited' texts from everyone! haha. Ryan had also sent out a text to everyone, so we were both on our phones trying to keep up with all the texts we were receiving. After a while of sitting on the display glider chair, we both decided to turn our phones off so we could do what we went there to do. So we looked around for a while, then we both decided that we were really hungry & we would come back after we ate. So we went across the street & down the road a little bit to Gandolfo's & got a sandwich! Then we went over to the Orange Peel to get a smoothie. Then it was back to target to get some stuff for our little boy! We just got a few onesies, blankets, socks & jammies from there, then decided we would go somewhere else another day to look around. We went to Ryan's moms work for a while & he went in & told her the news & showed her the pictures. Then it was just kind of like a normal day after that. (:
I am SO excited to shop, & choose everything out for the baby! I've been looking online at carseats, strollers, swings, bouncers, ect. and now I can finally start narrowing it down to only boy things & make a decision!
I am SO much more excited about this baby now & can't wait to meet HIM! (:

Name game.
We have figured out what the baby's name will be:
For a boy: Bransyn
For a girl: Brynlie Jane
We don't have a middle name picked out for a boy, yet. The first name came easy... we just can't figure out a name that sounds good with Bransyn! haha (: Brynli Jane, I just think flows really good together & is SO cute! I don't even know how the middle name came up... it just popped into my head & I liked it! So glad we at least have that part figured out now. Three more days until we start calling this kid by his/her name!!!

18 weeks!
I am now 18 weeks along & I had another Dr appointment yesterday! My Dr was out of town, so they had another nurse practitioner in the office helping out. She measured my uterus & it measured at 17 1/2 weeks, which is on track since I am barely 18 weeks today. So this baby is growing good so far! (: We did not get to hear the baby's heart beat this time, though... which was a bummer. I don't know if the baby was just moving a lot so she couldn't locate the HB, or if this lady just wasn't the best at locating it. Which really made me nervous & Ryan had to calm me down cause I was starting to freak out. But since she couldn't find it... we had to make sure the baby was okay. So she brought in this little ultra sound machine so that we could SEE the heart beating. Luckily, everything was fine. The quality on this machine was not as good as a regular one. The picture wasn't very good and we could not tell if the baby is a boy or girl. She tried getting him/her to move around, but s/he was fassssst asleep, sucking it's thumb! (: That was really cute! I wish we could of gotten a picture of that... but maybe s/he'll do that during the 'big' one & we'll get a good picture! We also know when that ultra sound will be... Tuesday, June 17!!! I was hoping that they would of done it sometime this week, or Monday by the latest.. but I guess I can wait a few more days ;) I am just soooo excited!!! What a great early birthday present it will be... since my birthday is 3 days later! (: I have also been feeling the baby moving a LOT more now! It is such an amazing feeling! We still can't feel any movements from the outside, but hopefully soon! (:

Just an update (:
I am at 16 weeks and 2 days today, and wow it seems like I just barely found out I was pregnant a few days ago! haha, I mean I know I'm not that far along yet, but it is going by way fast! Hopefully the rest of my pregnancy continues to go this fast ;) I am just over 4 weeks from the halfway mark now, which is pretty cool to think about! I actually thought that the first half would be the slow part, since it's pretty much just a waiting game from the time you find out your pregnant -- waiting for dr's appointments, to hear the heartbeat, for an ultrasound, to feel the first movements, to get a belly & to find out the gender. Which, I guess we still have to wait for that last one! haha. We should be able to get our ultra sound in about 2 weeks! We cannot wait. I have a dr's appointment on June 11, so I'm hoping they'll either do the ultra sound then, or at least get me scheduled to have it done. We're definitely not gonna have the gender be a surprise... that would drive me crazy! haha. I am so excited to go shopping for this baby! I have already bought a few boy things -- some onesies, pajama's, slippers & socks -- cause right now I kind of have a feeling that we're having a boy. But some days I do have a feeling it's a girl! So I really don't know! haha. I kept the receipts just in case though.
I wish I had more of a 'motherly feeling' on what it is... but it changes daily! haha. I have had a ton of dreams that it's a girl & only a few for a boy, though. But who knows! haha. Only a few more weeks until the guessing game is over ;) I am so ready to start calling him/her by their name!
I have been feeling really good lately! I am definitely liking this 2nd trimester stuff more then the first! I didn't get sick very much, mainly just when I would brush my teeth & go to far back on my tongue, that's really the only thing that made me sick. I did have trouble eating, because I didn't have much of an appetite & everything always sounded so disgusting. I'm pretty sure the only thing I ate for a few weeks was cereal. haha. I was also soooo low on energy & I was always tired.
Here are my very first 'belly pictures' at 16 weeks & 2 days!
I'm not very big yet, but It's definitely starting to show now! (:

Fetal Movements!
So I'm pretty sure that I have been feeling the baby move for the past couple of days!
It's not a whole lot, but I get feeling in my belly like I am getting poked at.
My 'What To Expect When You're Expecting' book says that usually you will feel 'butterflies', also known as quickening, first... but I never really felt that!
I've also gotten feelings like something is going across the inside of my belly!
I can't feel it from the outside yet, nor can Ryan... but I can not wait until that part comes!
I literally sit & try to feel him/her move alll day long.
I get so excited when s/he does, but it's so quick & doesn't last very long.
Hopefully in these next few weeks, the baby will start getting more active & when s/he gets a little bigger, Ryan will finally be able to feel the movements as well!
But I am sooo excited! This is something I have been waiting for since the day I found out I was pregnant (:

Mother's Day!
Today is the very last Mother's Day I will celebrate not being a mother myself! Although, since I am pregnant, Ryan already thinks of me as a mama, so he bought me a little present to celebrate. He got me this lip set thing from Mary K, that came with a lip mask, lip balm & lip gloss! I love this set & I thought it was so sweet that he got me something this Mother's Day! We celebrated with my mom by having some dinner & going to a movie with her. We saw 'Baby Mama' Which was SO funny! I have been wanting to see it, so I'm glad we did! Then I got her some decorative stuff for the house. Overall, it was a good day! I am so thankful for my mama & I hope that she had a great day! (: Happy Mother's Day to all you moms & mama's to be out there!
